CueLABS™: Open-source Internship Terms
These terms govern applications to and participation in CueLABS™, the Cuesoft open-source internship programme. The signed internship agreement governs each internship and prevails over this page wherever they differ.
Applying
- Applications are made on the CueLABS™ website and create no contract; an internship exists only when both parties sign the internship agreement.
- Selection is at Cuesoft’s discretion, on the application, the candidate’s public work and any assessment conversation. Decisions are made by humans.
- You must be at least 18 years old to apply.
The engagement
- Unpaid, by design. CueLABS™ internships are unpaid engagements governed by a signed internship agreement. They create no employment relationship: no wages, benefits, leave entitlements or employment rights arise, in any jurisdiction.
- Data allowance. Cuesoft covers interns’ connectivity costs through a monthly data allowance stated in the internship agreement.
- Term and notice. Internships run for the fixed term stated in the agreement, three or six months, and either party may end one on the notice the agreement states.
- What interns get. Supervised production experience on live, MIT-licensed products with public commit histories under the intern’s own GitHub identity; sprint-based mentorship against the published engineering standard; and a written performance record at mid-term and end of term.
- Equipment. Interns work remotely on their own equipment, secured to the standards of the handbook policies.
Intellectual property
- Work product created during an internship is assigned to Cuesoft under the internship agreement.
- For the open-source products, Cuesoft publishes that work under the MIT licence: the intern’s authorship remains visible in the public commit history.
- Nothing in the programme assigns work an intern creates outside the internship’s scope, on their own time and equipment.
Conduct and confidentiality
Interns meet the standards of the handbook, including its anti-harassment, confidentiality and cybersecurity policies. Programme communication happens on Discord; the Privacy Policy describes what that involves.
No job promise
Strong interns may be recommended into client work through CueHIRE™. Nothing in the programme promises employment, a placement or a salary, and no one at Cuesoft is authorised to promise otherwise.
